ITE graduate Lee Syafiq started his career as a haute cuisine chef, working for some of the most prominent restaurants in Singapore. Driven by a passion to contribute and help protect Singapore’s food heritage, he decided to start his own business and bring the concept of affordable halal gourmet burgers to hawker centres.
With his second venture Ashes Burnnit! established on three locations on the island, Syafiq is now a seasoned hawker who wants to inspire others to also help take Singapore’s rich food heritage into a new century. He specialises in halal charcoal burgers with smashed burger-style patties to-die-for as well as Mac & Cheese.
Syafiq is often invited to speak at ITE and he acts as a mentor within the Hawkers' Development Programme, which was jointly developed by the National Environment Agency (NEA) and SkillsFuture Singapore to support new, aspiring hawkers.
Ashes Burnnit was paired with Atlas Copco in The Advocate.
