Amber is a self-taught baker and passionate about bringing fine pastry to the greater public. In pursuit of her baking dream, she opened up The Headless Baker at Ghim Moh Food Centre and is now providing financiers, scones, tea cakes and other exquisite bakes at affordable prices at her hawker stall.
Before she made baking a career, she pursued a more mainstream office career, but felt unfulfilled and restless. She started to ponder if there was more she could do with her life, so she started to bake and barista on weekends, and loved the interaction with customers. When an opportunity arose to work as a pastry chef at Agathe Patisserie in Melbourne, Australia, she took it, and developed a true love for the baking profession.
Back in Singapore, Amber joined the NEA Incubation Programme. Since then, Amber’s business has grown, both at Ghim Moh and online, and she is now a well-established young entrepreneur. The name of her business, “Headless Baker" is a direct translation from Mandarin, and means "learning an art without a mentor".
